Juarez, Mexico
Every Spring Break, Aggies In Mission sends students and adults to Juarez, Mexico, via Amor Ministries, to build houses in the lowliest areas of the city. This trip is the culmination for all the preparation done throughout the year. The cost of this trip will be around $300 depending on donations and fundraising done throughout the year. If money is of a concern, don't let it be. The Lord will provide.
The Preparation

Through the year, during general AIM meetings, we will train and equip all those interested in going on the trip through various means. This training will consist of, but not be limited to:

  • Choosing Your Mission Field
  • Evangelism
  • Support Letter Writing
  • Business Sponsorship
  • Carpentry
  • General Fundraising
  • Trip Planning
The Trip

Leaving the Friday that Spring Break starts from College Station, the group will ride buses to El Paso, TX where they will transfer to vans to cross the border. They will return after 5 days of loving, honest, Christ-centered hard work, knowing fully that they have given a family a new hope to life as a tangible example of Christ's love.

The Details

With 20 people per house, each house-building team will saw, hammer, mix and lay concrete, roof, and stucco a house together by hand. After a hard day's work, the whole team will reassemble at the Amor campsite and eat a delicious meal prepared by accompanying adults and sing praise and worship under the stars. Everyone will then retire in their tents until dawn of the next day. Once the houses have been built, we will dedicate each one and hand the keys over to the tearfully grateful family that these houses are built for. AIM will then return to El Paso to enjoy a much needed shower, then get back onto the buses and head home.

The Results

After 5 days of hard, sweaty work, several Mexican families will have a new 2-bedroom, wood-framed, stucco-walled, shingled-roofed house to call home. These families will now be able to look into the future with much hope for life because of the loving work of Aggies that love them as Christ did. But not only do these families get blessed. But each person on the trip will never be the same because they have seen God work in and through them. They will all have a taste for what missions is, and all be blessed because of it. There's just something about knowing that God used you to make a difference in an entire family's life that touches the soul with a mark that will last a lifetime.
